Jobs you can do while working at home

Jobs you can do while working at home

As mentioned earlier in other posts regarding working at home, there are a lot of things you can do to work at home.

In this post, I'd like to discuss the possibility of BUY and SELL.

Working at home

ONLINE

You can either put up and build your own online sales shop, or take advantage of the myriad of sites that let you sell your stuff in their sites.

Online buying and selling has been around for as long as the internet has been there. A lot of websites out there make money by letting people post the items they want to sell for a small percentage of the sales.

The most prominent among these websites is known as ebay.com. You can use credit cards or paypal.

In the Philippines, one of the biggest online buy and sell sites is sulit and the newest online buying site is shopinas

Dont get me wrong, these sites are different from the group buying sites.

Sites like these doesn't receive the money from the buyer. It goes directly to the seller via paypal or other means, compared to group buying sites, where the company that owns the sites collects the payment and pays off the seller.

VOIP Calling Plans

With all the advances in technology nowadays, calling around the world have become very easy and affordable. Here are a couple that we have used extensively in the past.

Skype - offers unlimited calling plans to a lot of countries around the world. It offers unlimited calling to the USA for both landlines and mobile phones.( unlimited in the sense that you do not exceed 10,000 minutes per month or call 50 different numbers per day.)

Skype also offers online numbers which you can subscribe for a fee, so that people from the country you subscribed to can call you back. It even offers numbers per state in the US.

Yahoo Messenger - YM also offers calls to countries, but no unlimited calling plans.

Magicjack - As far as we know - magicjack only has unlimited calls to the US and also includes an online number. Check the fine print with magicjack. As far as we know they already have a limit to the calls you can make. One drawback of the earlier version is that you need to attach the magicjack to a PC.

* Magicjack plus - no need for a PC anymore - just plug in to your router and attach your phone.

GoAutodial - is a voip provider that has 2 options - a public and a private option. Try it now - the public option provides free 120 mins for a test. They also offer A-Z calling options.

And some talent in finding work.

As mentioned in earlier blogs, a lot of stay at home moms and dads have started working at home as part time call center agents or representatives. Making or receiving calls from and to other parts of the world has become increasingly easy thanks to the advances in technology.

But, a lot of people don't know that you can also work at home as a writer or blogger. A lot of articles coming out in the internet are made by work at home professionals. Even some articles being printed under the name of someone else usually was written by a work at home professional.

Blogging is a lucrative and well paying home based job for a lot of people. Rates vary from 3 usd for about 100 words to as high as 100 usd per article depends on the topic.

And for those really hardcore bloggers, they also earn from ads in their blogs. Companies pay to advertise on websites that have a high traffic rate on a daily basis. Especially those websites that have their own mailing list.

So, do you have the talent for writing?

Is working at home for you?

A lot of people ask me why i chose to work at home. How did i find a job like that? How do i work?Get paid?

For those of you out there that is thinking of working at home, let me discuss to you the advantages and disadvantages of working at home. Working at home may not be for everyone.

Here are some points for the advantages of working at home that others i have talked to along with myself have realized.

1. No Commute. As we know or have experienced. If you work at the typical office, you need to actually be in the office. Or in some cases as in sales, you need to be in the field. Working at home frees up at least 3 hours a day. That's the average time it takes for a person to dress up and travel to and from the office. That's three hours you can devote to other things like, sleeping, spending time with your family. FACEBOOK, household chores, or if your lucky a part time job.

2. No extra Expenses.( in some things.) You get to save cash.hard earned cash that you worked for. Why? no commute means you don't pay for fare. No expenses on keeping you office wardrobe updated. No eating out.

3. Less Stress. (some points are more applicable to women)

- choosing what to wear for the day

-traffic

-seeing your co workers

-seeing your boss

-being late and fined

4. Eating home cooked food. being able to eat what you want, when you want without being charged an arm and a leg to get it. And hopefully eating healthy foods.

5. Almost safe from external factors. (except of course for natural calamities)

- no worries on being kidnapped

-raped

-robbed

-car breaking down

-no color coding.

6. Spending quality family time with your Family and friends.

Anything else??? Feel free to add your opinions.

Earning from home...

Earning money even when you're at home has never been easier. With the advances in technology and the increased access to the internet, there are now a lot of ways to earn cash.

There are sites that you can register to that will pay you to read emails from their subscriber clients based on the area of interests you indicate in the registration process.

One of those sites is http://www.emailcashpro.com. Once you register, you will receive around 2-3 emails per week ( depends on your interests ) that will contain links to websites, once the website is opened, your account is credited a certain amount and its done!!

You can also earn thru the referral system. Invite your friends to sign up and you get points for each friends activity.

But, beware. There are a lot of bogus sites out there. Especially, those sites that ask you to pay to join them.

How to get your money when you get paid when you are working at home

So now, you've started working at home. Got a good paying client. Agreed to the working conditions and everything. Next question is how to  get paid?

There are a number of options you can use to get paid. Aside from the standard wire transfer between banks. Usually, employers who use work at home personnel don't do wire transfers.(based on my experience.) Here are the usual methods they like to use.

Paypal -https://www.paypal.com/ - unfortunately it's not that easy. You can receive and send money with paypal. But you can't withdraw the money to you bank account until you have verified your paypal account. To verify, you would need a credit card. Withdrawing money from your bank usually takes 2-4 business days.(not counting weekends and holidays. Based on my experience with BDO - transfer funds from paypal to my account wednesday night, the funds usually are deposited friday night (might be different with other banks.)

Note: make sure your account name in paypal and your bank is the same. If not, you get charged 250php for return fees and it takes about a month to turn around.

Moneybookers - http://www.moneybookers.com/app/ - moneybookers.com - works almost the same as Paypal. Not sure about withdrawal methods as i haven't used this. Most Filipinos who work at home use Paypal as to my knowledge.

Debit cards - if you dont have one - website partners will give you one for free(usually) like odesk, if you are members. There are maintenance fees a transaction fees. But good thing is you can use it like a credit card or atm.(as long as you have funds available.)

xoom money transfer -  https://www.xoom.com/sendmoneynow/home?receiveCountryCode=- bank transfer. direct to your bank of choice. usually takes just a couple of hours at most. Unless you run into their  security checks which turns out into a couple of days. Also, they made some changes with their policies.  check out their website for updates.

Did i miss anything else???

How to start working at home....

Part 1
How do you get started working at home? What do you need? How do you get paid?

These are the questions I usually get when friends find out that I work at home. I've worked at home since 2009.

Working at home isn't for everyone.

Technical things that you need to work at home.
Decent computer. - what I mean by decent computer is that the PC you use should at least by 2-3 yrs old. Ram should be around 1gig at least. Processor?? None of those Intel Atom stuff. At least a dual core processor.
Headset - should be comfortable. You can try STH series.  Very cost affordable and durable headsets. (since you will most likely be wearing it for a couple of hours.)
Internet connection. - at the very least 512mbps. Preferably, 1 gig.
Back up isp -even if its one of those usb types - at least you can check your emails.
Work area. - you will need at least an area you can work at everyday with minimal interruptions. And as quiet as possible. (No dogs barking, No cocks crowing. No children shouting in the background.)

Skills that you would need to work at home.
Computer skills - familiarity using Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint. Various web-based programs, like skype, ym and crm's.
Phone skills - most work at home jobs are call center based.(outbound/inbound calls)
Patience
Active Listening

Hope this helps those who are thinking about it.

Watch out for part 2.
